Getting Rid Of Bedbugs: Tips And Tricks

by Thomas Proctor

Bed bugs do not require you to call the most expensive terminator that you can find. If you find them in your home it may seem like you will never be able to get rid of them but know that bug eradication is easier than you think. You can rid yourself of these pests with some patience and some research.

The major strep to get rid of bedbugs is to clean up the probable areas. High probability areas may include furniture, luggage, bedding, and clothes hampers. Other nesting sites for bedbugs could be carpets, wood mouldings, door jambs, picture frames and closets. Thoroughly check and clean the probable hiding places.

Washable items such as linens should be laundered with hot water. Items which cannot be washed should be wrapped in plastic and put under direct sunlight. The reason you want to expose infested items to heat is because temperatures of 120 degrees Fahrenheit or higher are needed to kill both the bedbugs themselves and their eggs.

The second step in getting rid of bedbugs is to set traps for rogue bugs you may have missed during your initial sweep. Sticky traps, which can also be used as mouse traps, are a good way to catch roaming bugs. You may also use natural insecticides like Boric Acid around door frames. It is not advisable to use insecticides in or around bedding or clothes hampers because they may be a danger to your health.

Bugs can be a major irritation in any household. In order to resolve this problem, you need to realize that some so-called methods are not effective so as not to add to your frustration by trying them and expecting them to work. For instance, bed bugs are a very annoying problem but aerosal sprays and bug bombs do not get rid of them nor does exposing them to cold temperatures unless the temperatures are below freezing for at least two weeks running.

If using these techniques in your home have not worked, you may want to think about hiring someone who is a professional exterminator. However, a lot of times these methods will work and people should not take them for granted. You need to be aware of certain "bug treatment sprays" which are sold online quite a bit. A lot of these items don't come with correct instructions or guarantees that the spray will be safe to use.

Getting rid of bedbugs might seem like a daunting task when you first discover them in your home. However, it is possible to get rid of bed bugs without having to hire an expensive professional team. As long as you have patience, perseverance, and a little know-how, bedbug eradication can be accomplished easily. The first think you must do when getting rid of bugs is to thoroughly clean the infested locations. The areas to focus on are furniture, suitcases, sheets and blankets, and hampers. Be sure to examine and completely disinfect all the possible places where the bugs might hide.
