Mastering Basic Bass Fishing Techniques

If you want to be successful at fishing for bass, it's important to know bass fishing techniques. It might look simple enough, but don't be fooled. Bass fishing is a strategy worthy of Sun Tzu. Ask my dad, he'll tell you!

He gets all dressed up like he's going to war, selects his weapons, and of course, chooses the perfect bait. I swear in his mind he plots ways to destroy those enemy bass fish! But above all else, he believes that mastering the basics of bass fishing techniques comes first.

Casting is one of the most important things to learn. Dad says it should be like second nature. This means when you're in the water, you won't be distracted by your casting technique.

You get the best results with the smoothest, quietest cast possible. Bass fish like quiet areas, so if you can use a smooth cast to sneak up on them, you're off to a great start.

He chooses his technological equipment as well. He says he can find out where the fish are hiding when he uses a radar. Bass fishing techniques like this are really helpful. Bass fish are good at hiding, and knowing where the fish are is one of the keys. They like to lurk around fallen trees or rocky areas. In these areas, there are likely to be a good bit of bass fish.

This in turn means you'll catch more. I didn't know that fishing could be so complicated. And to think that we assumed he spent all day napping in the boat. He takes his fishing very, very seriously, though. More than likely he'll train us to salute him whenever he goes out the door!
