How To Build a Patio On A Small Budget

by Jessica P

Want to build a patio, but don't have much money to spare? Here are a few tips that will help you build a patio as cheaply as possible.

1.) Patios can be beautiful no matter what you use to build them. If you want to have the look of a stone patio, you have a few options available to you. It's fairly easy to learn how to build a patio that looks like stone, but much easier on the wallet. Use broken pieces of paving stones. Place them together like a mosaic on your patio area. You can use spray paint on them and create some really great stone looks by using neutral and natural colors.

2.) Check your local garden supply stores for paving stones after summer. This is because they are in high demand during the summer and when it is over the prices usually drop. After Summer, everything gets marked down. So, this is your chance to sneak in and get paving stones and other garden supply items at a discounted price.

3.) This same principle applies to having your concrete poured as well. If you look for a time when the cement companies do not have as much business you can usually get it done for less. Again, after Summer and Spring, business dies down. You may not be considering your patio during the winter, but with a little planning ahead you can get fantastic discounts from the cement companies. Or, learn how to build a patio yourself using bagged concrete.

4.) Learn how to build a patio using low grade concrete. This looks just as good as the higher graded concrete, but is much less expensive so you wallet will be happy. You can save even more money by building the patio on your own or just with a few close friends or family members.
